It been a while!

I know, I know,, it's been a lonnnng time since my last post! We have been so busy! I can't believe it is already the first day of Fall! Which I am excited about, we are one season closer to Christmas!! Yay!
So much has happened since my last post! A few weeks ago we took a trip to New Mexico to see all of Bryan's family and of course show off our little man. Who, by the way, is HUGE! Everybody was so excited to see him, and us, but let's be honest, they were excited to see him! Bryan's parents had seen Brady, but this was the first time for all of the rest of the family to meet him. He was passed around, and loved on all week! And thanks mostly to Aunt Rachel and Uncle Keith, he has now tasted many, many different foods! LOL! For example, bbq sauce, watermelon, cupcake and cherry limeade to name a few... those were the things I saw anyways, who knows what else he ate!
Bryan was only able to stay a few days, and I stayed on after to visit a little longer. The day Bryan flew out, Brady started crawling! Then he got his 2 bottom teeth, stood up, and said Mama,,, all after Bryan left! He was so disappointed, but at the same time so happy!
Life at home has been busy. School is back in, so all the students are back. That means Bryan is now super busy! He is also taking 2 classes right now and running the time clock for the Liberty Football games. This Saturday is the Virginia 10miler which he and Brian Y. will be running again.
As for me, I have started doing some part-time work for the place I worked before I had Brady. They are allowing me to work from home, and if I need to go in, I can just take Brady. This is such a BIG blessing and great opportunity for me! I have really enjoyed getting to know the women in our SS class and getting all their knowledge on mothering! Who knew it was so much more than babysitting??? LOL!
I'll try to keep everyone posted better!

The first week of July we met my parents, grandma & nieces in Gatlinburg, TN. This was my parents first time to come to Gatlinburg, so we were excited for them to see it. We rented a cabin for the weeks and had a blast. We went to the aquarium, drove go karts, shopped, ate some good food, and Bryan, my grandma & dad went rafting!

Happy Father's Day!!!

This was our first Father's Day!!! Yay!!! It was fun to FINALLY be able to buy Bry a card and a gift to celebrate him being a Daddy:) Brady decided to get him the movie Transformers,, Daddy loved it!!!! (Even though I forgot to hide it, left it on the kitchen table, and he saw it on Friday!) I am so thankful for Bryan, and for the great father he is! Also, Happy Father's Day to our father's as well! We love you and are thankful for you!

Memorial Weekend trip to Chattanooga

This past weekend we took a trip down to Chattanooga to visit friends and hang out. We had a blast staying with Bryan & Holly, our BFF's,,, going to Coolidge Park, visiting our church, and having cook outs with friends! Maybe someday we will be able to return,,, maybe:) Enjoy the pics!

10 days is too long!!!

Brady & I recently took a trip to Texas & Oklahoma to visit my family. And as you can tell from the title, by the end of the trip, Bryan is firm on his decision that 10 days away from eachother is TOO LONG! :) (not sure if that is for both of us, of just Brady, LOL!)

Although we missed each other, Brady & I did have a great time visiting, and everyone LOVED meeting him. He did very good on the plane rides, which I was very nervous about! I did not want to be "that woman" with the crying baby! I didn't care if I had to nurse him the whole plane ride, he was not going to cry! And, thank the Lord, he didn't! He actually didn't cry much the whole trip, actually, he hardly ever cries! He is a great kiddo! (I am his Momma, so I can brag) We went to TX was to celebrate my mom's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! It was a blast to see everyone, and such a blessing to see anyone, related or not, still be married for 50 years! Also, this was the first time that my dad was able to see Brady, so that was super special! My grandparents live in Ok. City, so that is where the party was held,, we were there for the weekend visiting, and were even able to stop in Newalla, to see some of Bryan's family, and let them all meet Brady as well. The common theme of the trip was, "we can't wait to see Brady,,, we are glad you are here too though!" :) I was proud to show him off!

This Easter has been so special to us! To be able to enjoy this time with Brady, even though he has no idea what day it is, is so sweet. We can't wait until the day that he realizes why this day is so special,, that our Savior died for us, was buried, and arose from the dead so that we might have eternal life with Him! I must say, I have tears in my eyes as I write this because now that I have had my son, it makes me truly appreciate what God has done for me by sending His Son to die for me and mine. I cannot imagine bringing Brady into this world, only to know that I would have to sacrifice him for the rest of the world. What amazing love God has for us!!!! I hope everyone had a fun Easter! He has risen!!!

32, 26 & 2 months

Both of our birthdays are in March, mine the 24th, and his was on the 29th.

Brady's 2 month mark was also on the 29th:-) He had his first round of shots on March 31st, and was a little trooper.. only one cry out, and it was over. I was very nervous about this, I was afraid that I might cry as well, but he was a big boy, and his Momma was a "big girl" :-) He is getting so big!! He is now 23 inches long, and a little over 12 pounds!!! We went out to eat and the waiter asked if he was 3 or 4 months old, and we had to tell him he was only 2 months! He looks like such a little man! Not to mention that his poor hair is falling out, so it looks like he has a receding hairline!! LOL He is still adorable..Here is a quick "brag" story,, a few girlfriends and I were eating at Panera, and this guy in a suit walked over to our table, and said, "Excuse me, I really don't like babies" ( so I'm thinking , ok,, Brady is not crying or annoying anyone, what's your problem??) so, he says, "I really don't like babies, I mean I REALLY don't likes babies, but he is the cutest baby I have ever seen!" I of course became the proudest Mom ever!!! He is really cute! I promise!!!

Bryan is 32 this year, and I am 26,, I like to rub that in to Bryan, though he does not find it as amusing as I do! However, I am very thankful for the 29th of March, the day my wonderful husband was born. He is absolutely wonderful! He loves me more than anything and spoils me to death. And now that we have a son, his love just continues to flow over to him! I love watching him with Brady, he is such a great dad! By the way, he is getting ready to run another marathon, this one is the Pittsburgh Marathon, the weekend of May 2nd, it is 26 miles! He is so dedicated to this and has really been enjoying the challenge of the run. Not to mention that it is making him look even more super-sexy than before!! Wink, wink ;-) ;-) I am so proud of him! This summer he is going to start his Masters in Business at Liberty University, and is very excited about this. It is something he has been wanting to do for a while now, and he is even considering going on and getting his Doctorate! I know I mentioned my husband was super-sexy, but did I also mention he was super-smart as well?? I'm telling you, I got the whole package!!!:-)

On Bryan's birthday, we found out that Dad Calhoun was going to be in Raleigh, NC.. about a 2 hour drive from Lynchburg,,, so we contacted him and worked it out so we could meet him for dinner in between his meetings,, it was a sweet visit, and he was thrilled to meet Brady!

Sadly, this is the first picture of all three of us together!!! He is 2 months already, and this is the first one!!! :-)

A lot has happend since I last blogged!!!First off, we have moved to a new house! A little advice, if you can avoid moving right after having a baby,, DO IT!!!! It was very hectic, but very worth it! We love our new home and are just happy to be out of the town home! Bryan's mom and dad were here, they were a huge help as well!!! I will blog pics of the whole house when it is all put together, I do have Brady's room done, and it is too cute! (if I do say so myself!) FYI, the day we moved the furniture was the ONE day out of the whole time we lived here that it snowed, and snowed and snowed!!!

Brady had his one month check up,, he weighed 7lbs, 14oz when he was born, and at his check up he weighed 10lbs, 2oz!!! He is a little piggy!!! A cute piggy though!!!

I know you all have been waiting for more pics and more info on the birth,, so here it is:-)

The birth went very well, and very fast! My mom made it to our house at 10pm on Wednesday, the 28th, and I was waking them up a little past midnight with contractions, telling them that we need to go to the hospital. We arrived and were checked in about 1:30am, at that point I was dilated to a 1. By 5am, I was dilated to a 4 or 5, and was on my way to receive a wonderful epidural! (Hats off to those who go natural, but I will be ever-so-grateful to whoever created the epidural!) After the "happy drugs" it went even faster, by 8am, I was a 7-8, by noon I was a 10, pushing by 12:15pm, and had a Brady at 1:28pm! I had a very good delivery, smooth, and easy for the most part:-)

We brought home our little Brady on Saturday morning,, I was a bit tired to say the least! We had to go to the Dr. on Sunday so they could check his level for Jaundice. When we left the hospital, his level was a 13, and by Sunday it had gone to a 16. We then had to get this little UV blanket that he had to have on his back, against his skin, 24/7. Let me tell you how fun that was! Brady was a trooper, and it didn't seem to even phase him,, however, trying to feed and burp him with that cord coming out the bottom of his clothes was not an easy task! We had to keep him on the blanket until Tuesday. By his Friday's Dr. appt. he was all clear!! Yay!!! We didn't realize how "yellow" he was until we started looking at the pics we had taken. He now has a beautiful olive skin,, just like his daddy:-) Who, by the way, he looks JUST LIKE!

What can we say??? We are now the proud parents of a perfect baby boy! He was born January 29th, weighing 7lbs 14 oz, 21 in. in length. 7-14-21,, easy enough to remember! :-) This entry is not going to be a long one, as it has been a long day, however, we wanted to get some pictures up. Enjoy!!! We are!! Thanks to all who have prayed for this day to come, and for those who have prayed today for us! We love you all and are so thankful to have you in our lives!

Philly, PA

First off, going all the way back to November 23rd. This is the day that my awesome husband ran his fist marathon, 26.2 miles! It was in Philadelphia, PA, and from what he says, it was COLD! The temperature started out at 22 degrees, and didn't get much warmer. He and his friend Brian have been training for this run for months, they ran it in 3 hours & 59 mins! I am so proud of him and all that he accomplished in this race! I am not by any means a runner, so the fact that he is, is something that I admire greatly about him! Love you baby! (sadly I can't get the pics of him running to upload)

Christmas 2008

Our Christmas was spent here in Lynchburg. It was just the two of us this year, as I at 35 weeks was unable to travel:-( Christmas morning was good even though we really missed being with family. We slept in, and took our time opening presents, below are some pics of our Christmas Day goodies:-)

If you notice on both Bryan and I have 2 cards that we get each year. Each year we buy 2 cards for each other, one card is for the other to open up the current Christmas Day, and the other card is not to be opened until the next year. So, just to clarify, this year we opened cards from each other that we wrote to each other last year, and a card we wrote to each other this year,,, make sense??? It is fun to open both cards, but especially the card that you write the year before, it's interesting to see what you wrote, and what has happened in the year.My goodies,, the Narnia movies(I love the books!) candy, blanket from Bryan's mom, an electric knife from Bryan's parents,, and Bryan got me the Ipod Nano,, I had really wanted this for a long time! I didn't even ask for it, and he still got it for me. In case anyone is wondering, he spoils me beyond reason!This is a book that my Nanny & Papa bought us, so far it has been a really good read! Answering a lot of questions!!! Which is nice seeing as how we are so close now to being a family of 3!

That was our morning. Later that afternoon we left to go see a movie, ended up getting rear-ended, then ended up going to the hospital to get checked out. We are fine, we didn't go by ambulance or anything, just drove ourselves. When we were hit it felt like such a hard hit, and we both expected the back of our car to be smushed, but, thankfully, it is ok. The man who hit us, hit our hitch, which is what made it feel like such a hard hit. When we got to the hospital, they hooked me up to start monitoring the baby, making sure everything was ok. Come to find out that I was actually contracting, which I didn't even realize, so we spent the next 6 hours there, trying to get the contractions to stop. The Dr. said that b/c I was so far along there was no way to tell if I was contracting on my own, or b/c of the impact of the accident, so they had to stop them.... I somewhat wished we could have just "gone with it", but that is b/c I am SO ready to have him out! :-) But, of course I want him to be healthy and full term as well... so it's ok!

This was so not the highlight of our Christmas Day, obviously, but we are thankful that we all are alright, it could have been worse! The "funny" thing is that on both Thanksgiving and Christmas we were in the hospital, so for New Year's we decided to barricade ourselves in the house and not go anywhere! (For those who don't know, Saturday after Thanksgiving we ended up in the hospital b/c I had Kidney Stones, which is excruciatingly painful! Anyone who has ever had these, I feel your pain! We were in the hospital from Saturday night to Monday morning. Bryan never left my side! He is AWESOME!)

I'm sure these are what you are all waiting for! I have been feeling good for the most part. I find it hard, and uncomfortable to sleep, and my feet make me look like I am related to the Michelin man! LOL! Bryan does a great job at rubbing them for me though! Sadly, I also had to take off my wedding ring :-( My clothes selection is for sure becoming limited; and I just kinda guess at where to put my blush, as my cheek bones have disappeared! LOL! All of it is worth it though! We just can't believe that we are going to be parents this month!(hopefully this month!)

It's crazy to think that on Monday we will be able to say, "we are having a baby next month"! Time has definitely flown by! I'm feeling really good, and haven't really been too tired. No weird cravings either. (I get asked that all the time!)

We have decided to name him Michael Brady Corley, calling him Brady. For those who don't know, Bryan's name is Michael Bryan, so we thought it would be cool for them to share the same first name, and same initials.

Brady is VERY active, always moving, flipping, kicking... apparently in my stomach is a pretty fun place to be! He seems to really enjoy it! :-) It's really neat that Bryan can see and feel the movements now. Not that he could not earlier than now, but now there is no mistaking it.

Chattanooga Baby Shower

The first weekend in November we made a trip back to Chattanooga for a visit, and to attend our Couples Baby Shower. Our dear friends, Holly and Rene were so sweet to give us this shower! I literally cried when I found out they were doing this for us! Words cannot even express how unbelievably happy this made us, and how loved it made us feel!

The shower was held at Rene's house, which if you have never been too, it is GEORGOUS! It's a historical home, over 100 years old, in downtown Chattanooga!(and should you be interested, in is for sale!) I have TONS of pics from the shower, but will try not to post all of them:-)

Once again, thank you to all who came to the shower and made this one of the most memorable days of our lives! I also wanted to say how much I love Bryan and how greatful I am for him everyday! Without him, I would have never met any of all the dear people that were here at the shower with us, and would have never had the privilage of knowing Holly and Rene, and considering them some of the closet friends I have ever had.

Because we do not live by any family, Bryan's sister, Sandy, and my Mother, decided to give us a "Mail Shower". This was such a neat idea, one that I had never heard of before! They sent out invitations to all of our family, inviting them to participate in a week long mail shower. The shower week started on Oct. 20th, and all week long we were getting presents in the mail. It was so exciting to get home from work everyday and have presents waiting on the porch or in the mailbox! Although, I did wait for Bryan to get home, which sometimes was not until 7 or 8 at night,, which was torture for me!!!! The presents would be just sitting there, wanting me to open them, but I was strong and resisted! :-) Here are a few pics of all the cool stuff we received!

Just in case you can't tell,, there is a Boppy, a sling, books, little bath scrubber and a monkey!

We can't believe that we are already 24 weeks pregnant, only 16 more and we'll have a son home with us! Craziness! For those of you wondering, we still have not decided on a name,,, we are between Asa and Brady. Feel free to cast your votes:-)

I'm feeling really good these days! He moves all the time, mostly in the late after noon to night. It's fun to see my stomach moving, and even more fun to have Bryan see it and feel it! Hope you all enjoy the pics!

24 weeks

The Virginia 10 Miler

For those of you who don't know, Bryan has been training to run in the Philadelphia Marathon(26 miles) in November. He and a co-worker, Brian Yates, have been training together, running at least 7 miles a day,,, which will only get to be more as the weeks go on!

They decided to go ahead and try the Virginia 10 Miler, to see how that would go. It was great! The race started at 8 this morning, and they finished in 1 hour, 24 mins. Here's some pics of the day:-)Brian Y. & Bryan

That's right! We are having a boy! And it is FOR SURE a boy! I debated putting up "that" picture, the defining picture, but I decided that maybe our son won't want his "manhood" posted on the web:-)

We are very, very excited, and this makes it even more real to us. It's already hard/fun to start saying "him, he, his"etc... as opposed to "it". As you can see I have already done some shopping! Starting with this adorable 100% Baby Boy onsie, along with some other stuff, including one to say, "I love my Mommy"! :-)

We can't beleive that it has already been 20 weeks! That we are already 5 months prego! Things are going great! I'm feeling good, no more barfing!! Wahoo!! I feel it move all the time, it seems to be somewhat of a night owl, which is so not me,, I love my sleep! (better enjoy it while I can!!) Bryan has also been able to feel it move around, so that is pretty cool.

We find out the sex of the baby a week from tomorrow, the 22nd,,, we are super, super excited for this, and are just praying that the baby is "showing it's stuff" for the ultrasound! I think it is a boy, and have felt that way pretty much the whole pregnancy, so it will be interesting to see what it is. Bryan doesn't have a guess, he just wants a healthy baby, as do I :-)

So stay tuned to find out next week what our baby is! Hope the pic is what everyone was hoping it would be,, I don't think there is a huge difference from the one before,, but that may just be b/c I see it every day. :-)

5 Years of Marriage!!!

This past Saturday, August 23rd, we celebrated our 5 year Anniversary! It's hard to imagine that 5 years have already gone by! But, when you are spending them with your best friend, who watches the time??? We had a fun day, we went to Roanoke, watched a movie, ate out, and did some shopping.

Bryan was so sweet and sent roses to me at work. I LOVE getting flowers! It makes my day, and makes me feel special. Just like Bryan!

They were beautiful! And they smelled delicious!!!

And of course,,, the card:-)

I must say, and some may disagree, but Bryan is the best, sexiest husband in the world! He has made me happy beyond my wildest dreams! When I prayed as a teenager for my husband, I had no idea how above and beyond God would go with my simple requests. In fact, I had written down everything that I wanted in a husband, this was a few pages long, and Bryan was everything that was written and requested by a 16 year old!(and so much more!!!) After he proposed, I gave him my list/prayer for him to read on the plane ride home, which was followed by another letter, telling him how thankful I was for him. I love him!!!!

I know I speak for both of us when I say that we are truly blessed to have one another, and are blessed for every day we get to spend together!

St. Lucia!!!

The first week of June, Bryan & I, and our best friends, Brian & Holly, made a trip to the Sandals Resort in St. Lucia. We decided to celebrate our Anniversaries together, this summer was their 10th, and this Saturday, will be our 5th! Time flies! It really was an amazing island, very beautiful, and very, very relaxing. (However, this was the first week of my "morning sickness" so that was somewhat of a bummer)Here's some pics from our trip. Belly Watch

Pregnant at last!!! After patiently, and sometimes not so patiently, waiting for a positive answer, it has finally happened! We found out Sunday, Memorial weekend that we are pregnant!!!

Fun fact: Bryan proposed 5 years earlier on the exact same day:-)

This is the first test we took, we actually took 4 tests... just to be sure! I'm sure some of you find that hilarious!

Tomorrow I will be 14 weeks, and heading into the 2nd trimester! I have a slight "bump", enough of one that I am getting a little uncomfortable in my jeans :-)

This is not the best picture ever, but I am too anxious to wait for Bryan to get home to take the picture!

We just wanted to thank all of you who have been praying for this time to come in our lives! It hasn't always been easy wondering when our turn would come, or why it seemed like it might not ever happen. But, as most of you know, God has His own time, and His own plan for us, even if we are unaware of it!
